Baby loss remembrance tree
After working with the local authority and local MP for over a year we successfully petitioned for a Baby Loss remembrance tree in Hylands park, Hornchurch.
The tree has babies names hanging from its branches and provides a place of remembrance and comfort for local families. Its purpose is also to raise awareness in the local community with the hope that it serves as a reminder that families are not alone.
The tree now means so much to so many of us and we have spent the summer having several picnic’s underneath its branches and it has been a finish point for several walk and talk events. We currently have over 150 beautiful babies names hanging from its branches. Please see below details on how to request for your baby’s name to be added to the tree.
Baby Loss Awareness Week Service of Remembrance
Baby loss awareness week runs annually from 9th–15th October. Since 2024 we have held an annual remembrance service bringing together our local community of bereaved families. The event has been really special each time with a candle lit service dedicated to honouring each and every baby.
The service gives families a chance to meet other local bereaved families. Our 2025 event included a space for bereaved siblings to carry out fun and thoughtful activities with a trained professional. We also had numerous tables from local organisations and together raised funds for Sands, Tommys and more donations of knitted blankets for the local bereavement suite.

Displays within the community
During Baby Loss Awareness week we have organised several remembrance displays across Havering using ribbons and hearts — each one had a special baby’s name on.
This meant so much to local families who would often visit the displays to find their baby’s name. We plan to continue our displays to raise awareness and remembrance during other special occasions such as Christmas.
